JoyRide

JoyRide duo : Colin Maier (oboe, saw, vocals, from Quartetto Gelato) & Mark Camilleri (pianist and music director for The Tenors) are “Joyride”, a fun show of Latin jazz, klezmer, ragtime, pop jazz, bebop and more. JoyRide has performed at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre, the Collingwood Festival, Hamilton’s Westdale Theatre, the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, and at regional theatres in Deep River, Cornwall and Bobcaygeon. Their CD “JoyRide” has received radio play on jazz stations around the world: “Ridiculous, virtuosic, outside-the-box fun … It takes a lot of nerve to make music as amusing as JoyRide’s.” (New York Music Daily)
Colin Maier is an oboist and multi-instrumentalist who is also a dancer, actor, stuntman, singer, martial artist and Cirque de Soleil acrobat. Originally from Calgary, he has performed with orchestras across Canada and been seen in shows such as Lord of the Rings, Amadeus, Cats, A Chorus Line, and Sarah Brightman’s World Tour. During the Vancouver 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies, he was featured as the Devil Fiddler in the Flying Blue Canoe. Mark Camilleri is a Pianist, composer, arranger and producer and he is the music director for The Tenors and director/producer of hundreds of theatre and musical productions in Canada. The Elora Singers

The Elora Singers – 40 years of Soul-stirring Choral Excellence. The Elora Singers have established an international reputation as one of the finest professional chamber choirs in Canada. It presents a regular concert series, produces recordings, tours extensively and is also the ensemble-in-residence of the Elora Festival for three weeks each summer. They are directed by Mark Vuorinen.

Mark Vuorinen is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Elora Singers and the Eloral Festival and Waterloo Region’s Grand Philharmonic Choir. He is also Associate Professor and Chair of Music at Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo and is the President of Choirs Ontario.

His recordings have established him as a champion of Canadian composers and contemporary music, including projects such as 24 Preludes for Solo Piano by John Burge (Centrediscs), Tapeo (ATMA) with cellist Cameron Crozman, and Night Light (Leaf Music) with flautist Lara Deutsch. His collaboration with Pentaèdre to honor Jacques Hétu’s music further showcases his dedication to cultural storytelling.

Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra

Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra ~ Every now and then a group of musicians comes along and changes the way we think about music. For over four decades, Tafelmusik has been synonymous worldwide with dynamic, engaging, and soulful performances informed b scholarship, passion, and artistic excellence.
Performed on instruments and in styles appropriate to the era, 17th to 19th century instrumental and choral music share the stage with exciting multimedia programs, bold new commissions, and intriguing cross-cultural collaborations. From a vibrant home season in Toronto, to international tours, award-winning recordings, and inspiring education programs, Tafelmusik is a musical powerhouse with a reputation for thrilling and delighting audiences.
The orchestra was founded in 1979 by oboist Kenneth Solway and bassoonist Susan Graves. Violinist Jeanne Lamon served as Music Director from 1981 to 2014. An Artistic Committee composed of three orchestra musicians assumed artistic leadership until the appointment of Italian violinist Elisa Citterio as Music Director in 2017.

Ensemble Vivant is a pioneering piano chamber music sensation, “Canada’s Chamber Music Treasure” (John Terauds, Toronto Star), burst onto the international concert and recording scene over 30 years ago with exciting, innovative genre-diverse programming including Classical, the syncopated rhythms of Ragtime, The Great American Songbook, Latin and other Jazz-related styles. Their programming is rich with passionate, deeply communicative playing that the hearts and souls of listeners of all ages. Ensemble Vivant has 15 internationally acclaimed albums heard on radio world-wide. Of Ensemble Vivant’s album iFUGUE – A World of Fuges, U.S.A. magazines FanFare, and American Record Guide respectively wrote: “Smokin…Fugues shouldn’t be this much fun!”; “Lively readings of fugues by all sorts of composers. A few are presented in original form, such as Bach’s Prelude & Fugue 9 (WTC I), played beautifully by pianist Catherine Wilson.”

Louise Pitre

Receiving a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in the smash hit Mamma Mia! was a highlight for Louise Pitre, Canada’s first lady of musical theatre, in a career that spans theatre, television and concert stages across North America and Europe.
In addition to headlining the Toronto, Broadway and US touring company casts of Mamma Mia!, Louise is known for her signature performances as Fantine in Les Miserables (Toronto, Montreal and Paris), the title character in Edith Piaf, Mama Rose in Gypsy (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Gary Griffin director) and Joanne in Company, again with director Gary Griffin. She also earned raves for leading roles in many other stage productions.
For her role as Edith Piaf in the North American premiere of The Angel & the Sparrow at the Segal Centre in Montreal in 2018, Louise received a METAs nomination (Montreal English Theatre Awards) for Outstanding Lead Performance – Actress. The show’s director Gordon Greenberg stated: “Louise is probably the foremost interpreter of Edith Piaf in the world.” In 2019, The Angel & The Sparrow was brought to Toronto by Mirvish Productions and retitled Piaf/Dietrich, A Legendary Affair at which time Louise reprised her role as Piaf to enthusiastic review. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, Theatre Passe Muraille and appears in concert regularl throughout North America. Her small screen appearances include Lifetime’s A Christmas Wedding, Recipe for a Perfect Christmas, Merry Matrimony, MVP, Flashpoint and the CBC biopic Celine in which she played Celine Dion’s mother, Therese. Louise was the host of Star Portraits on Bravo for its two seasons. She was chosen to be one of the three judges for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CBC series Over the Rainbow.
Louise is the winner of a National Broadway Touring Aword, a New York Theatre World Award, a San Francisco Theatre Critics’ Award, a Betty Mitchell Award and four Dora Mavor Moore Awards, all for best performance by a leading actress in a musical.
Since earning her Honours BA in Music Education (piano) from the University of Western Ontario, Louise has become the proud recipient of honorary degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music and Humber College along with a Doctorate of Music from the University of Western Ontario.
Louise has released five solo CD’s: Shattered, All of My Life Has Led To This, Songs My Mother Taught Me, On The Rocks and an all French CD, La Vie En Rouge. She is heard as Fantine in the Paris cast recording of Les Miserables, and as Ulrika in the Benny Andersson/Bjorn Ulvaeus musical Kristina cast recording live at Carnegie Hall. She, together with W. Joseph Matheson and Diane Leah recorded their original wartime musical Could You Wait? which premiered at Theatre Orangeville.
Louise holds the position of Honorary Co-chair with Hélène Tremblay Lavoie Foundation created to help address a critical lack of long-term care for Francophones in the Great Toronto Area (GTA). The foundation leads the way on behalf of Francophones, especially those in the later stages of their lives, to have the opportunity to live in French and enjoy a quality of life that they deserve.
